New device support for digital cameras

Pixel!CAM for Kodak DCS brings Pixel! users a new method for capturing images. With Pixel!CAM, shots taken with the supported Kodak cameras can be downloaded to a Silicon Graphics IRIX workstation for processing and storage -- eliminating the inconvenience and cost of generating film to obtain photos for scanning.

Currently, Pixel!CAM for Kodak DCS offers support for these Eastman Kodak Professional DCS cameras:

Much of the functionality already familiar to Pixel!SCAN users -- manual/automatic color adjustment, scan to file, batch scanning, filters, preview window, and calibration -- is also available in Pixel!CAM. In addition to these features, Pixel!CAM provides several specialized camera options, such as: thumbnail display of images stored on a PCMIA card, shutter operation, lighting and balance settings, camera-specific color correction options, and editable field dimensions. And for end-users and systems integrators who already utilize Pixel! products for image processing, Pixel!CAM integrates seamlessly with these applications to provide a comprehensive solution, from image acquisition to subsequent editing and storage.

The camera can be operated either in the field or through a computer interface. Depending on the camera model and PCMIA card used, up to hundreds of images can be stored on either the computer or a PCMIA card. Pixel!CAM lets you select which images to acquire, and gives you added control with interactive image manipulation features such as filters and cropping tools which can be applied to your images. When the camera is being used through the computer interface, Pixel!CAM allows you to operate the camera controls on your IRIX workstation. As with other Pixel! applications, Pixel!CAM may be used as an Application Programming Interface (API) by systems integrators.
